Here’s a quick illustration I did after watching the Oscars last night. Lupita Nyong’o’s speech was one of my favorites- “…no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” She looked so beautiful in her dress, I just had to illustrate her. :)

worldofladygirl asked: Hello :) I love your work. They remind me of those in my favorite retro books. What materials do you use in making your illustrations? Do you know of any guides or websites that teach how to make such illustrations? I'm in love <3

Thank you so much! I paint both traditionally and digitally. For traditional paintings I use gouache. For digital illustrations I use Photoshop and Painter. I bought myself a book on how to use Painter years ago when I first started using it. I basically tried to find the right brushes to get the retro look I was aiming for. I never really found any tutorials online, but if I come across any, I will post them!

Here’s my piece for the “It Came From 1984” show at Bottleneck Gallery. Wish I had more time to work on the lighting for this, but I was really happy to work on a tribute piece for Sixteen Candles!

Prints are available at the gallery and online at the gallery’s website-

Here’s my piece for the Little Golden Tales show at Gallery Nucleus! It’s a tribute to Little Golden Books, Mary Blair, and Lord of the Rings all in one shot!

I was so happy to have been invited to participate in this show. I love Golden Books! Working on this piece was so great because I was able to paint it traditionally, and had creative freedom to choose whatever I wanted. I chose Lord of the Rings because I’ve always wanted to do a piece based on the books/films. I also chose to pay tribute to Mary Blair’s cover for “I Can Fly” as it is my all time favorite Little Golden Book.

Here’s another Doctor Who piece! This one is for silverscreensociety.com and it’s based on the 1965 film, “Dr. Who and the Daleks.” Thinking about doing more of these Doctor Who children’s book type illustrations along with the travel posters I’m currently working on.

Goonies never say die! Here’s my painting for the 80’s Films Art Show at Susanita’s Gallery in Spain. Show opens on December 1st. So great to work on a piece for one of my favorite films ever!

Here’s my piece for the Doctor Who show at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. I’ve been wanting to work on a Doctor Who illustration for a long time now, and I’m so thrilled to be a part of this exhibit!
The inspiration behind this piece came from my love of vintage travel posters. I’m planning on doing a series of these with different Doctors and companions.
Stop on by Meltdown and check out the show if you’re in the area!
